This is an antique 19th Ct Victorian ladies hat, circa 1850’s, about 7 X 7 inches. The hat is hand worked with a base of horsehair mesh with embroidered beigh straw worked in a overall fan shape. The top is decorated with brown velvet ribbon (also used for the ties), a wide silk brocade ribbon, and cotton and velvet flowers. The inside is lined with silk organdy. The hat needs cleaning. The silk lining (also used for for a flower on the top) is very weak, the brocade ribbon is torn and weak (does not look too bad). A lovely hat that would display well.
