This is an antique hand made maple sugar sap collection bucket or pail. It is in old red paint is 9.5" tall and12" in diameter. It has a metal tab to hang on to the stile. It is banded with thin iron strips to hold it together. The inside is painted a silverish color. I'm told this is for identification purposes as well as to deter bugs from getting into sap collected. c.1800-1900's prior to tin buckets.
