Wright & Ditson Bat Game Used Baseball Pro Model No 10M c.1913 - Professional - Rare

This is a beautiful item and a percentage of the sale will go to the Make A Wish Foundation.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is identical in style to bats used by many Major League Players in the early 1900's - and can be seen being held by many ballplayers in period photographs. While we do not know what major league player or team used this bat, we know it meets all pro specification from the time period via weight and length. Records indicate that the Boston Red Sox, Tris Speaker and Nap Lajoie used Wright & Ditson bats.

The center brand features the Wright & Ditson logo, along with Heavy Hitter - and No. 10M via dark stampings.

This baseball bat is 34 3/4 inches in length and weighs approximately 37.28 ounces - and displays very well (see photos). Only pro models were made in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 inch lengths - this is a pro bat all the way.

The bat is not cracked and shows game use with a parial chip on the handle (see photos). Bat remains in phenomenal condition, while still exhibiting heavy game use. Deadwood appears on the reverse of the barrel, a direct result of repeated contact of bat to ball
(does not impact awesome display). All of the manufacturer's stampings are extremely visible and the bat is beautiful. It is very uncommon to find this model bat in this type of condition and display value, especially from this early era - a great bat.

History of Wright & Ditson:

A solid connection to Major League Baseball: According to the website, www.oldcourse.com, a€œIt was also about this time (1896) that the A.G. Spalding & Brothers Company bought a significant and silent partnership in Wright & Ditson. But the two companies maintained separate identities, trademarks and brand names for at least another decade.a€ It can be summarized that the same manufacturing and marketing process was applied to baseball bats, thus increasing the likelihood of Wright & Ditson professional model bats being supplied to Major League ballclubs.
