PROTECTIVE HOOD: The new optional Protective Hood (included in the ELITE Package click here) is made of double walled honeycombed reinforced FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) material. Unlike canvas or plastic covers sold or included with other awnings, you do not have to install and remove our hood when the need arises. The BST Protective Hood is rigid, sturdy and permanently installed with the included full hood end caps so it can be left on year round protecting your investment from inclement weather. With the optional Protective Hood you do not have to remove your awning in the winter months. Your awning components, fabric and mechanism are protected from wind, sleet, ice and snow when the awning is closed under the hood.
WIND SENSOR KIT: The optional Wind Sensor Kit (included in the ELITE Package click here) can be added to our motorized awning. It automatically closes the awning when unexpected damaging winds occur while the awning is unattended. The Wind Sensor wind speed sensitivity is owner adjustable. It is incased in clear plastic to be unobtrusive when installed on exterior wall or soffit. It is powered by the wall mounted control panel (no batteries required). When the optional Wind Sensor is installed and activated it helps to prevent damage caused by high wind gusts.
