With descriptive text by Wm. S. Walsh. Philadelphia: Henry Altemus, 1894. 6” x 7” oblong and 222 pages. Green cloth hardcover with decorative silver stamping to cover. Very good – a little wear at head/tail of spine, lightly rubbed. Endpapers appear cracked right at hinge but does not affect binding – tightly bound and square. Two pages with a small repaired edge tear, interior lightly age toned but clean.

A pretty little book that really celebrates the wonder of photography, and that includes among its 100 monuments & scenes many still sought by travelers today (and some that no longer exist). Each full page photo faced with a description. As with many Altemus books, the cover is particularly attractive. A nice book for photography, architecture buffs or for “round the world” teaching.
