58.6 grams of sterling silver. The chain (sterling( weighs 16.7 grams so that leaves the coin and holder at 41.9 grams. The coin was minted in 1973. The bckside of the coint says One Troy Ounce .999 fine Silver Struck in the United States of America by the Letcher Mint Certified Weight and Quality. It's a heavy buggar. This piece was hand painted by Chet Price. If your familiar with painted coins you most likely already know that name. Hand painted in the world old tradition of Welch craftsmen. Carefully selected miniature curved and straight brushes, he hand paints every minute detail that already exists in the coin. Painstakingly applied colors with a high tempered firing process some piece taking a week to complete. All enamels are are mixed by hand with no 2 pieces ever alike. In the final stage to protect the paint there is a covering of space age plastic which adds depth and luster to the item while providing a measure of protection. The coin measures 1 and 7/8 inches across set in the bezel. The sterling chain measures 24 inches long. This piece is of course a one and only.
