Fiona Saunders Shoe #12 Authentic Limoges Box LE # 212/300

Up for your consideration is this elaborately decorated Victorian shoe designed by artist Fiona Saunders. This particular design is #12, lovely green & yellow dotted, striped & lacy design embellished with a large green fabric bow with a goldtone and faux pearl button. The box opens at the heel. The shoe has a yellow design painted inside & a brown 'leather' sole. Signed & numbered as shown. 4" in length.

Fiona Saunders was born in Harrow, London. She was educated in London at St. Martins School of Art and at the Royal College of Art, England's most prestigious post-graduate art college. Since then she has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer.

To produce her series of shoes as art, Saunders traveled to such historic homes of shoemaking as Northampton, England, where she found an inspiring collection of shoes. She also studied the works of twentieth-century masters including Vivier, Blahnik and Ferragamo, paying homage in her work to the many artists and artisans throughout the ages who have inspired her.
