Handmade Zuni Effie C Turquoise Sterling Silver Ring

This mens or womans vintage ring is an original work of art created by renouned Zuni artist Effie C.

The ring size is 9 1/2 and the setting contains 2 top grade, medium sky blue natural Sleeping Beauty nugget turquoise stones. The setting measures 1 1/8 " by 3/4" and the design features Effiea € ™s famous inlaid turquoise eyed snakes coiled around the stones.

The ring bears the Effie C hallmark.

In Zuni history and culture, the snake is a symbol of defiance. When the U.S. government began rounding up and relocating Native American tribes in the latter half of the nineteenth century, the Zuni tribe successfully hid on Zuni Mountain for several years and were never found. Today, they live on their original tribal lands.

The ring could be worn by a man or a woman.

I purchased this work of art in the 1980's from Ray's Indian Originals, a world-wide known dealer in Native American art.
