Powerful Purple

Deep purple 21 carat stone set in classic sterling.

Measures approx 15" around, 4.5" across, 5" down.
Design area is 2" by 1 5/8".
Back of collar is .25" wide.
Stone is approx 21mm by 17mm.
Marked 925 & maker's mark.

I have researched this mark but have never
been able to find out who it belongs to. There
is no Mexico mark, possibly because there was
no room on the clasp, but I have a bracelet listed
with the same mark that does say Hecho en Mexico
and I have seen it on other Mexican pieces.

The stone is one I added, I bought the necklace
with no stone in it. It is supposed to be a purple
sapphire but I can't verify that. When my jeweler
set the stone he thought it may have been an
amethyst but he doesn't have a gem tester to check.
He was impressed with the quality, whatever it is.
