Pick a pretty pair of perky poodle pups on postcards.

One chrome postcard -- captioned "I'm ready, let's go! -- depicts a miniature gray-brown poodle in a woven picnic basket. The puppy has big brown eyes, a silvery collar and a pale blue bow nestled atop a silky head.

The photo is by Free Lance Photographers Guild, Inc., and the postcard's publisher is Dexter Press of West Nyack, NY. There is no zip code, which means the card likely was produced before 1964. Besides the caption, the printed information on the reverse side also includes a number DR-97252-B.

When viewed at an angle, the postcard's surface shows scuffing and wear to the chrome finish. Corners are lightly bumped, but edges are sharp and the back is clean. My inventory number PC-531 is lightly penciled in the upper left corner.

The second chrome card depicts a blue-gray poodle in a formal pose. This dog wears a red jeweled collar that focuses attention on brown eyes, black nose and ears shielded by flowing dark gray fur.

On the reverse, the publisher is identified as Alfred Mainzer, Inc., of Long Island City, NY, and there is a zip code. Next to the publisher's logo in the lower left corner is the number 843; in the stamp box is the number C23116.

The surface of this postcard is shiny; very minor scratches are visible under strong light. Corners are lightly bumped, but edges are sharp and the back is clean. My inventory number PC-534 is lightly penciled in the upper left corner.

Both postcards have divided backs and are postally unused. Each measures the standard 3.5" x 5.5". The green border, by the way, is not part of either card but merely a background to make the edges more distinct.
