Both are very similar and look like they were cast from the same mold, but were cast with different metals. I am no expert!

Red Caboose: Dated 1979. Made by the American Buckle Company in Chicago. Serial number # J271.

Very nice detail. Measures app: 3 6/8 inches long and 2 1/4 wide. Super nice deep attractive red coloring that is seated with a plastic type protection over the top. Looks like a bronze casting.

Any cloudiness on the buckle is from photo flash.

Silver Color Caboose: Made in the USA 1979, Great American Buckle Company, in Chicago. This one is marked Limited Edition and Numbered 271.
Very nice collectible for the railroad collector. No identification on the caboose as to the railroad.

I am not sure what type of metal was used. I am guessing this is Pewter. Although, there is some shiny silver casting on the cupola. Measures 3 3/4 inches long and 2 3/8 wide.

This would be the ideal time to add to your collection or to start a new hobby
collecting train belt buckles. OF COURSE.....these would make excellent gifts also!
