This Hand Carved Nutcracker was made by Lothar Junghanel, one of Germany's most recognized Carvers. He was born in 1929 and is now retired. Each of his nutcrackers is made in the Erzgebirgischer tradition. This Nutcracker is Hand Carved and Hand Painted, not Hand Turned, there is a big difference in the detail and the facial expressions. This would make a wonderful gift for any Civil War buff, what fun to put on the bar or in the office.
This soldier is gray and blue. He carries a removable sword by his side and has the letter CSA written on his belt. He is in excellent condition. This unique Nutcracker is from the Hand Carved Civil War Series. His hair is rabbit fur. He stands approximately 13 1/2 inches tall and is signed by Lothar along with the date made, September 26, 1996 and the burnt trademark brandstamp, a triangle with a rooster in the middle.
He is number 37 of a Limited Edition of 50.
The words Urheberrechtlich Geschotzt are written on the bottom, which translate to a Copyright protection statement. He comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate is dated September 26, 1996 and is Model N. 7867, the Georgia Governor's Horse Guard. You can visit their website at junghaenel-mudau.de and see how the nutcrackers are created.
