You are presented here with an exceptional Prayer Bead Strand that is entirely hand carved by a master Bead carver in the traditional Ottoman style.
Close up pictures show the main beads and separators and the very skilful carving whereby the ring is carved within the whole mass of the material thus being emprisoned by it.
Close up of the pictures show the beautiful shape of the beads, which, with the main bead carving are of typical old ottoman carving.

This is one of such items, which although newly carved,is made from vintage GALLALITH is already a rarity as practically impossible to find for the layman - to the same extend that the old ottoman hand made tesbihs in such a beautiful style are rare today.

General : 99 Beads of ottoman shape -shalgami - like a turnip
Length 50 cm - weight 30 gram
Bead size  : 8 x 7 mm

Galalith, a milk protein plastic was produced in a rainbow of brilliant colors and marbling patterns. It was used in France and Germany from the 20's to the 40's. Once synthetic plastics were invented the production of Galalith ceased . Galalith, which is milk-based, as opposed to chemically based, is actually is heavier than bakelite and has a much more polished finish.
