Boy or Girl? What a wonderful gift for someone who's just pregnant and/or keeping the sex a secret. Of course when Edgar Guest wrote this little homage to children, sex was always secret till birth. The illustrations are by Lucile Patterson Marsh. She shows delightful blond, curly haired children from infancy to grade-school in various sweet poses. The print is on a diagonally striped vintage paper that is slightly rose beige. The drawings are pen and ink with just the splash of yellow for accent. The frame is original and is a cream color painted wood. It has aged but is undamaged. The backing paper is missing but the back paper shown is original to the print. It has a wood grain texture. Those thumbtacks are old but not original to the picture. I will leave them for you to keep or remove. The total dimensions are 6oe x 7oe inches. This piece is signed by the illustrator and marked Copyright 1938, The Buzza Company. An absolutely adorable piece incorporating 3 of America's 20th century icons: The Buzza Company, Edgar A. Guest, and Lucile Patterson Marsh. |
