Silver and Turquoise Bracelet, Vintage

Do you love South Western jewelry? This bracelet has it all. I believe it is an earlier piece as it has no markings at all. It polishes and looks like sterling, but has not been tested. The earlier Native American jewelry was not marked in any way, and this sure looks like an older piece.

The picture really describes it better than I can. The very different turquoise stone looks like it came from the Hachita Mine in very southern New Mexico. The unique color and rusty hue of the matrix conforms to gemstones from that area.

A silversmith who creates a piece of jewelry starts with the stone and then designs the shape of the bracelet and other decorations around that stone.
This turquoise is almost oval and is set in silver surrounded by a rope like design. The one side shows the traditional Navajo type feather while the rest is surrounded in a plain frame to show off the uniqueness of the stone.

The size of the stone is approximately 3/4 inches long by 5/8 inches wide. The diameter of the bracelet is 2-1/4 inches in diameter and 1-3/8 inches wide at the widest point in front.

This is indeed a very wearable and lovely bracelet that will attract lots of attention because of its uniqueness and the interesting color of the turquoise. You could not go wrong to include this in your South Western jewelry collection.
