These are absolutely incredibly adorable, beautiful vintage decorative children. They have been hand carved and then covered in a gesso-like material so they are smooth to the touch. They they were hand painted in off-white, light burnished orange, olive green, and black. The workmanship and artistry are wonderful. Together they have created two pieces that definitely evoke feelings of times past when our lives were sweeter and serene. The pieces are large and heavy, ideal as bookends in a large bookcase or as accent pieces on the floor or on top of a breakfront or credenza--just about anywhere. These adorable children would be delightful in a nursery or child's room as well. We have had them for over ten years, displaying them on top of a china cabinet. They are in excellent condition. They are about 12" high and about 11" wide -- and absolutely guaranteed to make you smile.
