This is an absolutely gorgeous cameo, carved into the profile of a beautiful woman. Her hair falls in long ringlets and curves over her ear and is held in place with what looks like a braided band. Just from the description of her hair alone you can get an idea of the details of this carving. There are flowers at her shoulder and beautifully draped toga-like effect for her dress. It is simply a magnificent work of art surrounded by what we believe to be an intricate bronze setting. We have tried to clean it (the setting is quite dirty) with water and a very mild soap and then tried a silver polishing cloth. It has a lovely golden sparkle but could use more TLC in the form of more cleaning. Since we are not experts, we didn't try another other metal polish. There are no metal markings or signatures on the cameo but it is truly a most beautiful, beautiful piece of jewelry. The details both on the cameo and setting are exquisite! What a perfect Mother's Day gift for your special lady--or for yourself if you are that special lady!
