• Beautiful signed etching!

This item is an original etching, hand-coloured, signed by the artist. The etching measures 5" x 7 1/2".

The subject matter is entitled "Old Granada" and it is signed on the bottom with both the title and the artist signature.

There is an original paper label stating "Genuine Original Signed Etching by W. Travis Jackson. Etched and Produced in England." There is a smaller paper label that reads "Tilden-Thurber Fine Art Dealers, Providence, RI." It is no longer in the frame; easier shipping!

Etching is in very good condition.

etching - An intaglio technique whereby marks are bitten into the metal plate by chemical action. The plate is coated with a ground (either hard or softground) impervious to acid through which the artist draws to expose the metal. The plate is then immersed in an acid bath until the open lines of areas are sufficiently bitten. Finally, the ground is removed and the plate inked and printed. Etching is commonly used in combination with drypoint, aquatint, and other intaglio processes.
