At the last show, this little birdy whispered to me: "Pick Me". How could I resist?!
What a fabulously unique little Summer sun dress. There are just a lot of notched up "stuff" with this one.
We'll start with the fabric. It's 100% cotton and in a gradient dye. It goes from a sort of Mocha (think Latte) at the top and into one side of the dress -- front and back. Then there is a very very subdued pretty sky blue-turquoise. The sides (including the little attached pouchy poufy pockets on either side) and the bottom, front and back are chocolate brown. This is all done in the dye, one at a time.
But to notch this up even further, take a look at the close up of the embroidery. It's heavier stitched cotton and has florals...but my favorite is the little birdy getting ready to alight on one of the floral stems. This is so cute. The colors in the gradient dress itself are repeated in the embroidery work.
And now for the "cut". As if we weren't impressed enough so far, the cut of the dress is like nothing we've seen. So, ok, the bust is empire and it's pretty normal. It has elastic at the underbust with a nice long string tie to adjust the fit. At the rounded drop neckline there is a thin fabric braid, repeating all the colors. And below that are little beads and sequins placed every 2" but separating those is a blue "bud" stitch.
Ok, remember that braided trim? Well, it also goes from the front and becomes the shoulder straps. But then, about 3/4 of the way down at the back on either side, there is the plain mocha fabric, but this is elasticized. So you should get a perfect fit with this one. Because in addition to that bit of stretch in the straps, the back center is all soft ruched elastic which goes to the underbust.
Oh my gosh, we can barely describe the skirt part but here goes. As it comes down from the underbust it widens. Just past the hips the poufy little pockets are attached on either side. But then, also on either side, there is an added half circle piece and this has those gradient colors. The bottom center, in the front and back, has a square cut, but the way the half circle pieces are applied, well....look at the first picture to get an idea of the fullness of the bottom of this one.
The center front and back hits below the knee, but the sides will hit mid calf.
These are 100% cotton and FULLY LINED. But do hand wash cold because of all the extras on this one!

A note though, on the bust measurement: We're taking the bust measurement in the middle of the bust on the dress from side to side, but pay attention to the undebust measurement!

Bust: 15" unstretched and stretches to 18"
Under Bust: 12.5" and stretches to 18.5"
Hips: 28" from side to side taken above the pockets
Length: 43" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the side and 40" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the front.
Medium
Bust: 16" unstretched and stretches to 19"
Under Bust: 13" and stretches to 19.5"
Hips: 29" from side to side taken above the pockets
Length: 44" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the side and 41" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the front.
Large
Bust: 17" unstretched and stretches to 21"
Under Bust: 15" and stretches to 21.5"
Hips: 31" from side to side taken above the pockets
Length: 45" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the side and 42" from the center of the unstretched shoulder strap down the front.
Extra Large
Bust: 18" unstretched and stretches to 22"
Under Bust: 16" and stretches to 22"
Hips: 31.5" from side to side taken above the pockets
