Ok, so if you have a hot game of Trivia coming up, know that this year marks the 40th anniversary of The Summer of Love. It's also the 40th anniversary of the peace symbol. :)
Enough amazing facts. In honor of that, here's a killer Summer of Love tie dye skirt. It's the drapey, natural rayon so it'll keep you cool in the summer.
So everyone is pieced and such one at a time and THEN it's dyed. So while this group has the same color scheme, your skirt may have these colors you see placed differently. If that's a problem, don't buy it.
This is rayon, parts feel like soft cotton, jacquard satin, crochet, teensy waffle weave and beautiful embroidered gauze ruffle. But I'll get to each element. You will want to hand wash-- cold.
The colors in this one are awesome. The ground is white, but there is so much tie dye you really can't tell. There is pink, yellow, blue/gray in this one. Killer!
First the skirt is a free or One Size with an elastic waist and an added string tie for further adjustment. The skirt begins at the top with a soft cotton-like feel rayon. Attached to that piece is an embroidered looking satin jacquard embossed print--and this piece is huge and ends in a big VEE in the middle. There is then satin trim with little circle chain in the center. Next comes a piece of satin, embroidered horizontally with flowers and leaves. This follows the "VEE" pattern in the middle of the skirt. The satin piece is then trimmed again with that same circle trim. The next piece is a textured rayon piece (feels like the drapey heavy cotton). Then comes the circle trim embellishment again. Next, an open weave crochet piece. Again, yes, more chain circle trim. FINALLY a big gauze-feeling piece that hangs sort of like a ruffle. The bottom has fleur de lis in satin embroidery.
If you look at the pictures you can see the intricate way the skirt comes together in the middle, incorporating all the different textures. It is truly gorgeous!! Plus it is HUGE-- in terms of the sweep at the bottom!!
MEASUREMENTS
Measurements are taken across the front only. The waist unstretched measures 13" and stretches to 19"-20" comfortably. At the end of the first piece, the skirt measures 22.5" which is about the upper hip area. The skirt then just gets wider because of the insetting of the fabric. As near as I can tell, the bottom of the skirt measures an incredible 230" all the way around. Swishy, feminine, gypsy-esque. The length, though not constant because of the swoops, is 39" at the longest. This one has it all!!
This is a heavy skirt, thus the shipping, sorry. These are so nicely done. I'm pretty sure you'll see these alot now over the next few months. If you wanna wear it once and throw it in the rag bag, buy a cheapo. If you want one that will last til the 60th anniversary, buy this one. Great quality :)
I do accept RME a great way to pay! Should you wish to pay using RME, please select money order and I will invoice you via RME. Right now I'm not able to put the RME button up on Bonanzle.
