SURNAMES: BEARD, BOWIE, CALDWELL, CAMERON, CROCKETT, d’AMPUDIA, DUNHAM, EASTLAND, FISHER, GREEN, HAYS, HOUSTON, HUERTA, LIPTON, McCULLOUGH, MEXIER, SANTA SHEPHERD, SINNICKSON, SOMERVILE, TAYLOR, THOMPSON, VASQUEZ, WALKER, WALLACE, WOLL. Dear friend, in the last three weeks, three collectors have purchased 7 of my offerings each (21). Our most prominent purchase, a Montana Historian collector has now purchased over 25 of our offerings. There must be a reason. A major news writer's article Auction Bytes - Update ISSN 1528-6703 -Ina Steiner, Editor, has stated that EBay intends to do away with EBay Stores. So, it is very simple, access such as EBay furnishes now will be lost. But, until they do, you can still utilize the great EBay Search function. Just follow the instructions below, place your kin folk name in the search column and it will reveal all the stories I have reported with that name. It's as simple as that.
In the left hand corner, insert the name or subject you are searching for. Click on text and title description, hit go and our offerings that contain the name or subject you are searching for will appear. BLACK BEAN MEMORABILIA
LOTTERY OF DEATH By Dean Lipton
FACTUAL REPRESENTATION
Folks, here is one great story of what most historians call the Black Bean affair. Seems that during the Texas Independence, General Santa Anna – who had surrendered at San Jacinto – regained power in Mexico and refused to recognize his own surrender. Thereafter, he sent the Mexican Army to retake San Antonio. Many Texans objected and, following chasing the Mexicans out, several hundred Texans invaded Mexico in an attempt to capture the town of Mier, Mexico. Unfortunately, the Mexicans were aware of the plan and reinforced their army resulting in their surrender. Santa Anna ordered the prisoners shot but a Mexican Colonel named Francisco MEXIER, refused. Santa Anna fired him and installed a Mexican Colonel Doming HUERTA, to execute his orders. There was a modification of the planned execution and the prisoners were called on to draw from a bean pot – a white bean meant life – and a black bean meant death. This is entitled LOTTERY OF DEATH and the noted author, Dean Lupton digs a little deeper in the stew to recall trivial facts of the capture of the American Prisoners and the names of some who were executed and others who lived. Includes and names indexed of Texas Rangers, Texas Independence War Veterans, Mexican Officers (see below which will be printed out and bound in a plastic cover in addition to these rare Western magazine. There were many a great story published involving the Texas-Mexican war – the common ones are listed on Ebay every day but the rarer ones about the MIER EXPEDITION are seldom found. Collectors treasure them and their price guide value rises every day. They are hard to find. I hunt them out because really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest. Here’s one of ‘em.

Following my retirement, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western heroes. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolk lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf gathering dust. Because Old Western History and Memorabilia was printed before computer indexing, I index every item I sell. This complete index will be bound and included in this offering at no additional cost.
LOTTERY OF DEATH By Dean Lipton Sooner or later - Genealogists are going to realize that their family kinfolks are laying on some dealer's dusty shelves. If I can contribute to finding one little name or photo of that long lost ancestor you have been waiting to find, - its worth all the time I spend.

While others clip ads from magazines, I save history. It’s a shame that our past is being lost. It’s as simple as that. My wife kids me that after I find a piece I like, buy it, read it, research it, take a picture, scan it, write the blurb, pay the Ebay entry fee and commission, that I end up making about 50 cents an hour. But, OH HOW I LOVE THIS OLD WESTERN HISTORY. What a story, Rare Story!!! Great Pictures. You will love it as it was published in this old complete and seldom found western magazine of many years ago. The issue is in excellent condition, the cover is pristine and in vibrant color.
