A late nineteenth century (1880 to '90s) cabinet card photograph of five men who appear to be athletes. Four wear clothing that would be appropriate for athletic activities. I can't tell from their clothing exactly what their sport was. I would imagine that it was something along the lines of gymnastics or running. One of them has an image on the front of his top that looks like a stylized ball. The fifth man wears a jacket and a bow tie. I would assume that he is their trainer or coach.
The card measures 6 1/2" by 4 1/4". The back is blank. Printed below the image is: "Sioux City, Iowa. Waltermire, Riverside Park, and 201 W. Fourth St."
The condition of the photo can be seen in the accompanying image. The image has faded a bit. There is a 1/8" by 1/8" chip off the surface of the right front edge that does not affect the image. Just below that there is a smaller surface flake that is off of the mount and just nicks the right edge of the image a tiny bit.
