An early twentieth century cabinet card photo of a musician wearing a tuxedo and holding a saxophone. A paper label has been attached over the bottom of the image. The label covers the photographer's name. Printed on the label is the following: "Victor Marvelous Manipulator of Musical Mechanisms." The address of the photographer can be read below the label: "98 Sixth Ave., N.Y." Printed on the back of the mount is "Established 1867." We found that there was a photographer by the name of James A. Bostwick at this address in 1899 in a quick search of the internet. What can be seen of the printing and the writing on the mount is consistent with the photographer's name being Bostwick. The paper label also covers some of the handwritten words inked on the image. What can be read is the name: "Phil Victor," and "From 12 to 10 - Think it over" in capital letters. The cabinet card measures 4 3/8" by 6 1/2".
The photo's condition is shown in the accompanying picture. The upper right corner is chipped. On the back there are remnants of paper attached and obscuring the writing that is there.
