This imperial or boudoir cabinet photo shows a water falls. We do not know where this falls was located. But, it was evidently in either Colorado or New Mexico as these are the states that Clinton worked in. The photo was taken by J. L. Clinton who had a studio located at No. 20 Pike's Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the bottom left corner of the photo the following wording was marked in the negative: Upper Falls, South Cheyenne Canon (sp?, probably intended to mean "canyon"), No. 31. (M?) C. M. R.'Y. We believe that this view was taken in Colorado.
The back has the wording "Colorado Midland Railroad Pike's Peak Route" & also "Colorado and New Mexico Views". This cabinet photo is circa 1880's-1890's. There are two small tears at the left border & a couple of small flaws by one tear. Neither of these touches the image. The precise condition of the photo is clearly shown in the pics. The size is 7 15/16" long by 4 15/16" wide.
