An interesting automobile pinback button with the wording "Harrisburg Automobile Co." This company would have been located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This original 1 1/4" diameter celluloid pinback button shows women riding in an early touring car. From the looks of the touring car the women are riding in we would estimate the button to date circa 1905-1912.
When the button is held at an angle you can see some surface scratches. But, when looked at straight on none of these show up. There are some minor light brown age spots around the curl of the button. These do not show up from the front when the button is looked at straight on. There are two tiny pinpoint size nicks of no consequence off of the celluloid where the curl meets the metal backing.
The metal backing has some bends & some rust (which could easily be taken off). The front shows no signs whatsoever of the bends on the metal backing that are mentioned above. A very scarce & fascinating automobile pin.
