Large 5 1/4" by 4 3/16" size tintype photo circa 1870's-1890's of a horsedrawn hansom cab carriage. There are six people in the carriage. The husband sits in the driver's seat with his small daughter on his lap. Another daughter sits next to him. One son also sits in the front. Another son sits in the back with their mother. Standing next to the carriage is yet another son. There is part of a house in the background at the center. Also, there are some trees in the background. The white horse stood perfectly still while the photo was being taken.
Please note that we have listed two tintype different views of this same family & their carriage in different poses & backgrounds in three different eBay auctions. You may want to check the other listing out & bid on them all.
There are some minor expected bends, bumps, & scuffs as commonly found on tintypes. A number of these only show up when the tintype is held at an angle in the light. This photo turned up in a Lancaster County, Pennsylvania estate. But, we do no not know where the photo was originally taken. The condition of this tintype can be clearly seen in the accompanying image.
