Two early twentieth century photographs in Hawaii. One is of a grass hut and Hawaiian native with two children. It measures 5 1/2" by 3 7/16". On the front is written in ink: "Native hut thatched with the Pile grass. He had refreshments within but did not relish eating from a common dish! Island of Kauai." On the back is a penciled note, "Ernest Back photo and note. Hawaii, c 1915." There is a small crease at the upper right front corner which is in the white margin and only a tiny bit into the white sky area at that corner. The other photo shows two couples. Three hold pineapples. on the back is a penciled note: "left Ernest A. Back, rt center Harold Willard entomologist Hawaii c 1914." That photograph measures 5 5/8" by 3 1/2". The condition is shown in the accompanying photographs. There is a little bump to the edge of the center bottom edge which does not affect the image.
