This is a watercolor and gouache painting on artist board depicting the Texaco Fire Chief Ed Wynn.
Ed Wynn (1886-1966) was a popular American comedian and actor who is credited with producing the first comedy program on radio. His most popular radio series was The Texaco Fire Chief which ran from 1932 to 1935. He wore a costume during his radio broadcasts. In this painting he is shown in his Texaco Fire Chief costume.
The size is 11 1/16" wide by 14 1/8" tall. It is signed in pencil "Dorothy C. Snoops" at lower right. It is numbered in pencil "6" at top right. Mat has flaws at corners, wrinkle at left corner, and a 3/4" tear to left side. The condition can be seen in the accompanying picture.

Snoops listed in the 1930 census who was born in Baltimore about 1920. All of the items shown in the paintings by D. C. Snoops appear to be consistent with the styles and fashions of the late thirties. The paintings appear to be for the purpose of illustration.
