1890's to the early 20th Century

Each spoon is 3 3/4 inches long. The bowl is about 1 3/8 inches wide and 1/8 inch deep. They appear to be thin plated brass, but I could be wrong.

"Chiclet" is on the handle of each

Condition: There are 4 spoons, one with most of its plating gone. The others all show some wear in the plating.

My great-grandfather owned a drugstore in Kalamazoo, Michigan at the turn of the 20th century. At my best guess, these Chiclet spoons were used to scoop pieces of gum from a bin or jar. Or they were simply advertising spoons. Either way, these are unique collectors items.  

Chiclets is an old-time classic gum brand that has been available for generations and can still be enjoyed today in its original form and flavor. Frank H. Fleer based his product idea on a confection that was popular around the turn of the 20th Century, candy coated almonds. Peppermint Chiclets were introduced in 1906 and are the original candy coated chewing gum. Over the years, Chiclets have been made in many different flavors and colors.
