This is a realistic Hungarian Partridge figurine. It is hand painted on porcelain bisque in beautifully intricate detail. The partridge measures approx. 5 1/4" tall, in excellent condition with a couple very small chips.

On the bottom is the Lefton China in blue, gold and black, with red lettering “Lefton China. Hand Painted, Reg US Pat Office”. Also “Hungarian Partridge and KW3412”. It is missing their Red and Gold Lefton's Japan labels however a remnant of the paper and glue is still there. 1950's

The founding father of Lefton is George Zoltan Lefton. He was born in Hungary. Although he earned a living as a designer and manufacturer of sportswear, his hobby was collecting fine porcelain. In 1939 he left Hungary for America, seeking freedom and opportunity. After arriving in Chicago, he started his own ceramics business in 1941. A very close friend of Mr. Lefton's was Japanese-American, who became an important link to his major manufacturing source in Japan. Mr. Lefton held his quality specifications high, therefore his items will be in high demand for a long time to come. His reputation earned him the name "China King".
