Talk about rare! I found these puppies in only ONE place on the 'net -a blog entry. And talk about WAY coooool, this model kit definitely is that. It uses a combination of wood, metal and plastic to build up a super-detailed model of a yellow "RailBox" car. And actually, I think an intermediate modeler could assemble it. The instruction are quaint, but very straight forward and BIG. Follow this instructions link and have a look for yourself. Not that bad, right?
Detail parts include cast metal mechanical systems (in the baggie above, close-up at left) and the strip wood includes actual I-beams to build the chassis. The walk board for one end of the car is actual metal screen; the metal wires are for making piping.
You do NOT get trucks or couplers, although there are coupler pockets. Personally, I'd use Kadee or equivalent draft gear boxes and knuckle couplers and toss the metal ones in this kit. Then again, given the rarity, maybe the best bet is to build it as supplied. There ARE wood truck bolsters.
Decals include all the car markings -even the automatic ID bar codes.
I have 2 of these kits of the same model. In a separate listing, you'll see the same thing -only partly assembled. Great way to spend a hot summer day -assemble this model. Oh yeah -you get the original box, too. Priceless! Who loves ya?
$15 bucks each and they're yours, postage included to the lower 48. Or send me a message and argue about it.
International Shipping (Canada, UK and Australia): At actual cost.
