An absolutely gorgeous unmarked DUAL HANDLED MORIAGE NIPPON VASE.
The hand-painted Nippon decoration features lovely, delicate aster that been intermittently placed around the piece. Each aster flower is greatly detailed in multiple shades of purple / mauve with complimentary greenery. The piece is painted a soft green color with hand-decorated gold leaf accents throughout the piece.
There are a number of attributes that make this piece truly remarkable ~ its wide scalloped spout, the floral cameos which appear on both sides of the piece (they are different), and the ornamental fern or leaf dual handles. There is also a light white moriage beading (refer to photos). It measures approximately 11 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches wide from its widest point (i.e. from handle to handle).
Although this is a very delicate Nippon China mold, the piece is obviously strong – wearing well for more than 100 years with no staining, discoloration, chips, cracks, hairlines, repair or other damage. No apparent crazing and gold wear appropriate to its age.
