This is a very lovely original watercolor, signed by the artist H.M. Cooke and dated 1947. The colours are very vivid, burgundy, greens, golden yellows, pastels of blue and lilacs, and this painting has been excellently preserved under glass and there is absolutely no fading or damage anywhere at all. The painting was professionally re-framed in the 1980's. The matting is a burgundy colour and the frame is brushed gold tone. It is ready to hang with wire on the back. My pictures definitely do not do this artwork any justice at all as they really do not convey the intricate detail of the artist's depiction of the subject. The flowers are, I believe, Iris flowers. The actual painting measures 9-1/2" inches wide from east to west and the height is 13" inches. The measurement, as framed, is 14-1/4" inches wide by 19-1/4" inches in height. Perfect condition.
