This is a beautiful Western Stoneware pitcher. It is a 2003 collector pitcher made for the 12th annual Aledo Illinois Rhubarb Festival. Aledo is having their 18th Annual Festival June 5 & 6, 2009. The pitcher is glazed a soft white and the decoration looks like an embossed decal. The bottom of the pitcher is unglazed and is stamped with the vintage Western Stoneware Monmouth IL maple leaf and another more rounded leaf.
Western Stoneware was originally formed in 1906 when 7 local potteries joined together and ceased operations in 1985. New stoneware pottery is made in Monmouth Illinois by Western Stoneware Inc. after the company changed ownership recently.
The pitcher is nearly 8" high and has a 5.5" diameter body. It measures 7.5" from spout to handle and has a 4" diameter opening.
The pitcher is in very good to excellent condition; it has no flea-bites, chips, cracks, or repairs.
