This is a lovely commemorative plate for The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The center shows a policeman on horse with trees and mountains in the background. Canada's national Coat of Arms and provincial Coats of Arms are on the wide rim.
The plate measures 10" diameter.
Description and markings on the plate back:
* THE ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE / ALPINE WHITE ENGLISH IRONSTONE.
* This organization, Canada's Federal police / force, was originally called the North West / Mounted Police. It was instituted in 1783 to / establish law and order between Manitoba and / the Rockies. /
* In 1784 a force of 300 men crossed the / plains of the "Old Man" river (now southern Alberta), / built Ft. Macleod and took up the task of policing / 300,000 sq. miles of wilderness. It tracked down and / brought to justice murderers, horse thieves and desperadoes. /
* Just treatment of the Indians by the force resulted in / the neutrality of the powerful Blackfeet Confederacy / during the North-west Rebellion of 1885. /
* In 1904 the prefix "Royal" was granted by King Edward / VII in recognition of it's services. The force received its / present title in 1920 when it was made responsible / for the enforcement of Federal legislation throughout / the whole of Canada. /

The plate is in very good condition. There are no utensil marks on the dish, though there is crazing (see 3rd picture set). There are no flea-bites, chips, cracks, flakes, or repairs.
