1894 antique print; view of;
ELEVATED RAILROAD, SIXTH AVENUE, NEW YORK CITY.
Offered for sale is this nice authentic 1894 vintage photographic (black and white) picture-print,(with text-identification right below the image), of:
A great old look at The Elevated Railroad, at Sixth Avenue, New York City, also showing many old Buildings, with some signs readable (such as 'John j. Nagle's Dining Saloon'), and many merchant horse-carts below (which may have been a farmers Market), as viewed in the 1890's.
MOUNTING PROCESS:
It has been neatly and carefully, permanently mounted usinghigh-quality sepia-tone, slightly-textured, light-weight (Acid-Free/Archival) card backing-paper (sample shown in my last image at the bottom), and Acid-Free Adhesive,(which preserves the print,and makes it sturdy and protects it frombending and/or creasing, and makes it convenient for matting and/or framing, if thebuyer chooses to do so).
It would look great matted and/or framed or placed in a collector's/historian's scrapbook(as a complimentary piece that might 'fit' nicely with a related locality or theme collection).
The whole print-sheet measures approx. (8" x 10") inches (edge-to-edge, a standard-frame size), and the image aloneis about (6" x 8") inches.
[It has sufficient border-spacing as shown, so that it can be matted first, to fit a specific size frame, without loosing any of the image content, or framed directly, as the buyer wishes].
SOURCE:
This is an original quality book-plate, half-tone print; ('Half-Tone' being a qualitytype of printing process used in those days, which produced crisp clear photo imageson paper, and looked very close to a real-photo - It is Not a Post-Card or a "Real-Photo",(just to be clear), taken and carefully extracted directly from a scarce oldportfolio/volume of {old America}, scenes and views of the early 1890's, and prior.
It was printed on thick quality semi-glossy paper around 1894, therefore this actual printis about 115-years-old (and Not a recent reprint, copy or any other type of modern reproduction).
DOCUMENTATION:
Also; Printing and publishing documentation will be sent with the print for authenticationand proof of age.
CONDITION/GRADING:
Some mild age-toning to the print surface:[Specific Flaws of This Print;A few small mild creases, mostly on white border and a few light, mild rub/scuffs/marks, and faint foxing on parts of border-edge,hardly noticeable, and not affecting the image].
It is Graded in overall Fine Condition, with minimal noticeable flaws, other thanthose mentioned in 'Specifics' above, (also any other flaws that may appear, if any,and not otherwise mentioned were probably on the original photograph prior to printing).
