This set is so dramatic and striking! I am used to seeing items like this from Lenox and Rosenthal, as well as other German porcelain manufactures. I don’t think I have ever seen an Italian demitasse set like this before. The color is true on my monitor. The porcelain is an ivory color, not a bright white. The set is in excellent condition, with one tiny area of missing silver, which I am showing close up as well as in context, so you can see how insignificant the loss is. There is also an inconsequential manufacturing booboo. Two teeny-tiny specs of silver splashed into the cup. I am showing this to you as well. Everything else is perfect. There are no chips or cracks, even those pesky hairlines that so often elude people (I KNOW because I have gotten porcelain items that were promised to be perfect and they weren’t). I would date this set at circa 1950, but the cross-hatched design alternating with the flowers suggests an earlier time – an interesting merging of Art Deco and Art Nouveau flavors. Notice that the silver, while not the thick overlay one typically sees on Victorian perfume bottles and the like, is definitely not just “painted on.” You can see from my big picture that the overlay has depth and substance. The scalloped-rim saucer is 4 1/4 inches in diameter, and the opening of the cup is just shy of 3 inches in diameter. The cup is 1oe inches high, and the set sits at 1 7/8 inches. I can’t think of anything else to tell you, but please write if you have a question. If you collect cups and saucers, porcelain, silver overlay, or any combination of those things, this set would be a fantastic addition. Buyer pays actual shipping cost. In the USA, Priority Mail will be $4.95, and overseas shipping should be approximately $10 with First-Class Mail International. Please be sure to look at my other silver overlay items, and while you are in my booth, please take a look at the many wonderful vintage and rare Steiff animals waiting to be “adopted.” Note that all of my items have been reduced by at least 15%! Bonanzle does not include checks in their payment options, but I will accept a personal check under most circumstances. I can now also accept your credit card payments through Paymate.com.
