Up for sale is a vintage Homer Laughlin serving platter. Just in time for your holiday serving needs! This is an interesting find - see below. The decal of pink roses are bright and intact. There are also gold rose decals that are starting to fade. The piece does have a couple of minor fleabites and some crazing. No other noted crack, chips or hairlines. It measures 10 1/8" x 15 5/8".
The back stamp is the Homer Laughlin USA. The stamp C2L indicates that is was manufactured in March 1922. Further research from the Homer Laughlin, Decades of Dinnerware indicates that this stamping was only used between 1922 - 1929. Of the shapes in production at this time only the Empress shows a 15 5/8" platter but most Empress was marked as such (pg 63). As late as 1937, catalogs show this shape still being offered but with 67 different patterns. This particular platter we are offering appears to be a cut and paste of several different patterns which was very common. Given this, this piece appears to fall into the multitudes of other or unknowns and may never be specifically identified.
