IT IS IN SUPERB CONDITION, USED SPARINGLY ON ONLY VERY SPECIAL OCCASIONS, AND SO IT HAS RETAINED ITS SUPERB CONDITION. IT HAS FIRST SPRING SEASON LAMBS WOOL (LONG ACKNOWLEDGED AS THE BEST) WONDERFULLY ABRASHED, YET STILL BRIGHT ANY SHINY WOOL, WITH GREAT INDIGO BLUES, GOLDS AND MADDER REDS. IT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL RUG, VERY FEW OF WHICH EVER COME UP FOR SALE.
This is an EXCEPTIONAL. Shiny wool-on-wool foundation, hand-knotted, naturally dyed (vegetable extract dyes) carpet from the village of Taspinar in the Cappadocia central region of Turkey. The wool is incredibly soft, and feels heavenly with bare feet. Typically, it has one single very large medallion design. This carpet is antique, but totally pristine in A1 condition in every respect. This is a one-of-a-kind work of art. The colors are rich reds, soft greens and blues muted and abrashed through age by the use of natural vegetable or insect dyes. The supple texture and beautiful sheen of the carpet is due to the natural lanolin that is present in the wool. The lanolin also makes the carpet resistant to stains. Clearly kept as an 'heirloom' piece it is exceptional.
Exact dimensions are 13' 3" X 4' 11"
Because of its length to width this carpet could quite easily be used as a runner also.
