An exceptional hand-crafted porcelain work of art. This beautiful original one-of-a-kind plate was specially commissioned and crafted by the Master Craftsman Hamdi Diker, an acknowledged traditional artist in Turkish Islamic art and is hand signed on the back. The semitic script tells its own story of 'The power and strength of Allah' , the opening words of the Koran. To make this extraordinary firing, firstly the artist sculpted the 'Kutahya clay' ... renouned throughout Asia as a substance, discovered several thousand years ago and named the city of Seramorium (city of of Ceramic) later the city was named 'Kotiaion' , the story tells of an old woman who sold her wares in the Western Anatolian markets several thousands of years ago, this woman's wares were truly prized and she always sold everything at market for the highest value. other potters were jealous of her success and wanted to find her secret, so they followed her and discovered her secret cache of river bed clay, the secret was out and Kutahya was eventually developed as the most prestigious of porcelain producing regions throught the known world. What also makes this plate so very unique and special is the way the calligraphy was painted, breathtaking in its preciseness. This piece alone took more than a month of incredibly precise calligraphy to produce. This is an original "twice" firing at 1400 degrees centigrade, of which only ONE exists. it is unique, and comes in its own red velvet presentation case. As an expert in Oriental Artifacts, I have never seen another piece like this, in another 100 years this will become an Antique Museum piece. Dimensions are 18 inches in diameter and 3 inches in height. Weight is 5 pounds. My company is not unique, we are based in Oregon, and its our endeavor to bring to the marketplace totally unique masterpieces. |
