A Stunning hand-made 144 KPSI Turkish Kayseri faux 'silk' rug in vibrant dark blue field overlaid with a rod medallion of golds, orange greens and lilacs, on a cotton base.
Contrary to most modern sought after rugs, this masterpiece of art is dyed in a special process in order to achieve the vivid colors in this piece. A sought after masterpiece of Kayseri art, which is Circa 1960, and yet is in totally immaculate condition, clearly having never been used as floor decor. It is totally hand woven on a loom, and as intricate as this rug is, it would have taken the weaver at least 6 months of constant work 8-10hours per day to make.
Dimensions are 6' 5" X 4' 2".
Examples like this are almost impossible to find today and this is only 1 of 2 that I have ever had available. At the turn of the 20'th century the town of Kayseri in Anatolia was the only area using this technique to achieve what feels like, looks like and inherintly is 'Silk' but in actuality is a silk-like fiber called mercerized cotton, much beloved of the West the first and then second World Wars killed mass tourism from America and Western Europe to the 'East' and this art form clearly almost died away.
The owner of this rug will have a significant piece of art which you will almost never see auctioned through leading auctioneer houses and perhaps almost never on Ebay before today. My company is not unique, based in Oregon, USA, but our endeavor is to bring to the marketplace striking original works of art.
