This is a marvellous Vintage WESTERN TURKEY Balikesir Shirvan/DaghestanTribal Rug.

It measures exactly 5' 5" X 3' 2".

Turkish double knotted approx 100KPSI the pile is lusterous and thick giving this rug quite a weighty feel to it. Northeast of Bergama lies the town of Balikesir, many of these pieces are made by the Karakecili (Black goat) tribe. Interest in rugs and flatweaves from this region has just started to come to prominence recently. In Kirne, a village close by, lives a Daghestan colony whose women make true-to-original copies of Daghestan carpets, this is one such. It is in marvellous condition, no tears, rips or exposed pile, there are no worn areas. Selvage and bound tassling are also A1. This is a beautiful collectors Rug. This rug has never been advertised for sale on eBay or any other site, or any other medium before today.
