This is a really beautiful, very rare & exquisitely detailed 1920s Flapper Art Deco 14K Solid White Gold Front Belais R&G Compact Coin Purse circa 1920s. Weighs 104.3g. It measures 3.25" x 2" x .75" not including the clasp. Chain measures 11", 5.50" when looped. This coin purse has very ornate engraving on all sides. Mirror is intact and unbroken. Has a compartment for the powder which slides open and closed. Also has 2 coin holders (with old coins included!) and a flip up mirror with a blank spot on back for a monogram. This area is also 14k white gold. Business cards could be held here. It has an engraving on the front (ABF). The springs, hinge and clasp are all still tight and work great. Snaps closed and stays closed tight. Inside compact is hallmarked 14k Belais White Gold Front and R&G. Please see pics for hallmarks. This item is in excellent condition. You never see these anymore. The regular cosmetic compacts are much easier to find than a compact/coin purse combo with original fancy engraved chain. This is a great deal for a very rare and ornate Belais compact/coin purse! The Belais Brothers were famous in the U.S. early in the 1900s for making and patenting a process for making white gold. Before them, all white gold came from Europe. Belais pieces are known for high quality and gorgeous filigree/engraved high art deco design. Very sought after by collectors. All in all, a very nice Estate Art Deco Belais Compact Coin Purse.
