Setting up International Shipping via the Batch Editor.

There are two ways to set up International shipping for your products here on Bonanzle.

First determine whether you want to choose a flat rate to indicate that you will ship Internationally and then specify the cost in your ads or

Secondly, you can set up each region individually and group products that are the same weight, and designate the actual cost by region so that a buyer can purchase directly without contacting you first…

Option One
To set up your ads with a flat rate is probably the easiest way to indicate to the International buyer that you will ship to them. Using this method will not allow a buyer to directly purchase a buy it now product and they will have to contact you directly. You have to use OBO in order for it to work for YOU. This method requires that you add an additional paragraph that lists each region and how much your shipping fee is for that region.

To begin with…start on your ‘My Bonanzle’ Page.
Under booth management click on ‘batch edit items’
When you’re editor opens up, under options, click on ‘shipping’
Click on ‘Add flat-rate international shipping service’
Leave cost and description bars blank
Click on each country listed that you will ship to.
Move down to where all of your products are listed.
Click on ‘Select All’ to place a check mark next to each one.
The next function will now affect every product highlighted.
Now move back up to the area where you chose your countries.
Underneath of them, you will see a button that says ‘submit’
Click on submit.

Now all of the ads you specified will be visible to International Buyers.

When you use this option, you must now add the additional paragraph to your ads that lists your shipping fee by region.

Ships to Australia at $X.XX
Ships to Japan at $ X.XX
Ships to Europe at $ X.XX
Ships to United Kingdom at $ X.XX
Ships to Canada at $ X.XX
Ships to N. and S. America at $ X.XX
Ships to Germany at $ X.XX
Ships to Mexico at $ X.XX
Ships to Asia at $ X.XX

You can use Usps.com to find the correct shipping fee’s for each country and fill in the blanks (or X’s)
http://postcalc.usps.gov/ (for members in the USA only, all members outside of The US, please refer to your countries postal authorities website)

Edited to add this tip:

In your advanced items (under ‘SELL’) you can set your ship time or International specifics.

Where it says Items ship within (empty box) add the following statement:
International Customers: Contact Seller for Shipping Quote First. Products Ship Within 1

(Stop there. The editor will automatically add “business days” to complete the phrase. If you ship in 2 or 3 days use the appropriate number where I have used ‘1’.)

Then click on ‘SAVE ALL OPTIONS’ and it will automatically change all your ads as well as add this line to all of your new ads too.

This way the buyer will see that you will ship Internationally right at the top.

This feature is great. You can also use that box to indicate you are on vacation by changing your ‘days to ship’ count.

Option Two is done a bit differently: Use this method when you want to indicate an exact fee by region for Buy It Now purchases.
This will allow a customer to purchase your product directly without having to contact you or make an offer. In other words, it allows you to sell while you sleep.

Again…start on your ‘My Bonanzle’ Page.
Under booth management click on ‘batch edit items’
When you’re editor opens up, under options, click on ‘shipping’
Click on ‘Add flat-rate international shipping service’
Click on one country listed that you will ship to. (lets start with Australia)
Using usps.com to find the correct shipping fee to this region, enter the fee in the first box marked ‘cost’
In the second box, enter shipping mode.(example 1st Cl Int’l)
Move down to where all of your products are listed and choose all products that are the same weight. (example, all books that weigh one pound)
The next function will now affect every product highlighted.
Locate the button that says ‘submit’
Click on submit.

Now, when you look down at your products, you will see the same shipping fee to Australia for each of the products you choose.
Repeat the steps above for each additional country you will ship to.
When you have finished for each region…you will see this next to each of your products:

Ships to Canada at $7.00
Ships to Mexico at $10.25
Ships to N. and S. America at $12.30
Ships to Asia at $12.30
Ships to Australia at $12.75
Ships to Japan at $12.75
Ships to Europe at $12.75
Ships to United Kingdom at $12.75
Ships to Germany at $12.75

This is an example only…you will have a different fee where I have entered costs.

Then you have completed the requirements for setting up shipping using Option Two. You can now continue on to all the other items in your booth by page in the batch editor.

I found it much simpler to group objects of the same weight together and do them in sets when using this option.

Hope this helps anyone who is struggling with this process.

Great Job, You should be Paid by Bonanzle for the Hard work you do in Helping the Membership here. You and a few others are what holds this fragile community together and you should be rewarded for it.

One more tip…after doing so, add the following line to your ads that you are offering international shipping to:

Here is an example of how it will look afterwards:

I have found it is just as easy to drop the paragraph that you usually add for the flat rate method and add the instructions to your ‘Set max business days before item ships’ Then you only have to give a quote if an international seller contacts you. Just make sure you use OBO so the offer can’t be pushed straight thru. You’ll receive the offer and have the ability to add the shipping fee to it and return it.

For those who like the freedom of having the buyer go straight through, you will have to use method two as detailed above in the first post… Ok if you have a small booth. Mine is too large to do it that way.

Also be sure to update all your new listings as you add them the same way through the batch editor.

Easy as peaches once you do a few. You’ll see!

Hi Suzanne ~ don’t be nervous! International is easy-peasy once you jump in, and opens up a whole new group of buyers to you. We ship all over the world 3 times a week and very rarely have an issue of any sort. You should be able to ship most of your lovely crocheted items by First Class International which keeps it super easy for you. Holler if you need help!

And bumping this very helpful thread (and tagged it as such!)
