I was wondering if anyone else has used an AOB (Art Of Books) tab delimited inventory file to upload inventory. I am trying to get it to work, I just did a file with approx 11,300 items. Please let me know if this is possible!!! Thanks

When you are on the edit booth tab, there is a section for uploading via csv, the csv is in green. Click on it, and you can see what the Bonanzle upload sheet should look like and possible compare the two to see if they are compatible, maybe a few small edits or column deletions would make them compatible if not.
Hope that helps.

It has been going on 15 minutes since I tried uploading the file and no inventory is populating….so back to the drawing board. Thanks

Very rarely have I found upload sheets for different places to be compatible.
But like I said, perhaps just a couple of column deletions or insertions would do it for you. That is alot of inventory to work with.
I hope it can work out for you,

solomon –
1) The issue is not nevessarily the ‘upload’. The issue could be the ‘download’.
If you don’t set the download to the right file format, it won’t be uploaded into any system.
A tab delimited, comma delimited or tilde delimited .csv file download are all common file formats that work in 99.9% of cases for importing.
2) Consider also making a test subset of only a few records and import that first to see if a smaller set will work. If it works, it may be that the ‘content’ of your cells has some problem.
It could then be possible that your ‘content’ is too long (somr fields have character limits) or has a ‘forbidden character’ (rare but happens). See for content requirement details http://www.bonanzle.com/site_help/booths_setup/...
3) Also make sure that your field names (so column headings) match the spelling field names which Bonanzle requires. If they are just one character off the import will fail. Here is the link to the field names:
http://www.bonanzle.com/site_help/booths_setup/...
4) Also make sure that at minimum the ‘required’ field names are included as mentioned at http://www.bonanzle.com/site_help/booths_setup/...
5) If you continue to have trouble, send me a sample .csv file to check out. I don’t guarantee positive results, but two heads may know more than one.
Peter

Peter, I sent the file to support to look at, I sent a tab delimited file, the first one I tried. Now I am trying a comma delimited file, but it looks like that is not working either. Why can’t things be simple…lol

neither file worked, I am going to try an amazon inventory file, that has most of my inventory.

Update…an Amazon inventory file will not upload either so I guess I am SOL and I do not have time to individually list all my items. Another hobby venue for me if I can’t upload and maintain my inventory through AOB. At least it is cheaper than the other site…lol

Okay, why can’t you simply edit the column headers and columns as needed to conform to the Bonanzle spreadsheet?

One reason is that I don’t have a copy of excel, I am running XP and I am not willing to invest in a copy because eventually I will need another copy for Vista, just like my copy of Photoshop.
I have emailed support asking that they integrate with the Art Of Books and wish more people would. I already list on approx 20 different venues through the Art Of Books and doing one venue by hand can only be a hobby for me as I cannot really afford to have one venue manually processed.
If I can do that other site and half and lots of other venues through this inventory management service, then I wonder why this venue would not want to also???

Definitely would need a copy of excel, lol. And I completely understand the waiting part.
I was not familiar with AOB, but do understand better now, thanks for sharing that info with me!
The Boyz are always open to new ideas, I do hope they can work on this with you.
Good Luck,

I have over 11,000 items listed, (and more being listed daily) I would think they would be interested in looking into integrating with AOB.
All they have to do is get on AOB chat and talk with one of the owners (Rodger or Michelle) and I am sure they could work something out.

solomon – The AOB site you subscribe to actually only offers ‘integrated inventory management’ for specific listed sites which they have customized their interface for, so it can work with them.
For any other site (like Bonanzle) they offer .csv or .xls (both are Excel formats) downloads, so you can do it yourself, under the premise you have Excel to edit.
So their downloads will only be formatted correctly if you actually own the Excel format (to edit), not if you do not.
AOB even has clear instructions how to work with Excel, because they know that that is a requirement to be able to upload to another site. If you do not have Excel your download will not work with most sites which are not integrated with AOB. Only a site that has exactrly the same header formatting will work with it, but such a luck is unlikely with most.
So this is not a Bonanzle related problem. All other users here who own Excel software are having no problems, because they edit.
If you really want to remain in the ‘gratis’ mode, try free software that also can handle, so edit, Excel files like:
http://www.google.com/googlespreadsheets/try_ou…
http://www.OpenOffice.org
Those should allow you to edit the sheet header you downloaded, which is probably what is the problem.
Also make sure you tell Bill or Mark that you have not edited the file header for lack of software, so they do not waste their valuable time looking for a problem that is really not theirs.

I have tried open office with no success, I will try the other one also.
I never implied that this was a Bonanzle problem, what I am trying to say is that I have so much inventory and so much more to put on that I basically don’t have time to upload inventory through AOB to my various different venues, then upload to Bonanzle.
If Bonanzle and AOB could possibly work something out so that it could be set up as a custom venue on AOB that would be great.
Anyway’s I will try the other freeware you suggested and keep on a trying.
thanks

solomon- You may want to send the suggestion of partnering with AOB to support@bonanzle.com
You’re probably the most qualified to sell them the idea, since you already have the experience to tell about.

Yes, I already sent them an email about AOB. I also tried the google spreadsheet, the file is way too large for it.
Sooooo…now I am looking online for a copy of excel to purchase…lol

I finally got open office (flycalc) to work but still no success at uploading a file. I am saving it as a csv comma delimited and doing the columns as shown, but nada. I give up for now…lol
