i REALLY like this hand picked list! well done Paceset9999!
when we went to see the Ossahatchee Pow Wow the other week, it was really neat to see these wonderful people sharing their traditional dress, traditional dances & music, traditional craftsmanship…
the traditional dances were great. young & old, men & women, boys & girls – all very solemn & serious – beautiful to see the dancing with the leather, feathers, silver accessories. i could just imagine what it must have been like hundreds of years ago when large gatherings of people would come together to do the same.
I asked one of the men who had awesome jewelry crafted with silver & turquoise & other precious stones by himself, other members of his family, etc., if he was online. he said he used to be online but people would copy his work (steal his designs) so he closed his online store. made sense to protect his original designs! sad that kind of thing happens…
as we were leaving there was a bridge over a little creek we walked over… it was such a lovely sound of water over rocks under the bridge i clicked the record feature on my camera. when i listened to it at home the native drums came through in the background very clearly – it was a really cool glimpse into the past… being out in the woods, by the creek, with a native pow wow just beyond the trees – drums rhythmically beating along with the water steadily flowing..
