What are Topic Tags?

Topic tags help Bonanzle to identify the nature of discussion topics that are exceptional in some way. Their primary purpose is to help us pick out when a deserving topic should be highlighted in our help section or elsewhere on the site. Topic tags can also assist the Bonanzle robots in figuring out where to classify a thread such that the forums retain a professional atmosphere that inspires buyers.

Funny, Helpful, or Inspiring

Topics that are tagged as "Funny," "Helpful," or "Inspiring," help us know when to add a topic to our help section or feature the topic in our forums where possible. In the future, we also plan to highlight users who consistently start threads that are tagged with these threads. These posters are the root of what makes the forums fun to visit for all.

Dreary

When a certain number of people tag a topic as "Dreary," it is removed from the lists of most recent topics in the forums. The topic will still remain in its original forum and can still be visited by going directly to the discussion in which the topic is located. Read our complete forum guidelines.

Dramatic

A dramatic topic is one where one or more users are espousing emotional opinions. These opinions may be an argument between the users, or they may be one or more users trying to stir the pot for whatever reason. Almost all policitcal or religious arguments are dramatic. Discussions about leaving Bonanzle or whether enough items are being sold are generally framed dramatically. Another way to think of dramatic topics are as "controversial" topics: no agreement is possible, but heatedly debate goes on anyway. If enough people tag a Bonanzle topic as "Dramatic," it will be moved to our forum specifically for dramatic conversations, and posts in the topic will no longer show up in the list of recent posts. Venomous

"Venomous" topics are ones that have devolved into users throwing insults at each other or some other target. There are plenty of better forums than Bonanzle's for having a fire fight. Topics that are repeatedly tagged as "Venomous" are removed from our forums altogether. Read our complete forum guidelines.

When to Tag Negatively?

Used properly, debate can be healthy and constructive in arriving at a mutual understanding. These tags are not intended to discourage a healthy and good spirited debate about topics. The aim of topic tagging is to keep the Bonanzle message forums a healthy, positive environment.

Remember: Our message forums are a reflection of our sellers and Bonanzle itself. New buyers that visit the site will question the credibility a the service where users are constantly engaged in dramatic and/or venomous debates. Tagging topics ensures an upbeat environment that makes all feel better about transacting.
