  I'm Carol Ann and I've been painting and teaching Tole painting since the 1980's. I enjoy painting more than just about anything!

  Although most of my work is on wood, I also enjoy painting on rusty tin found on our weekend outings. There is something special about turning a discarded item into something beautiful. I also enjoy painting on stepping stones, fabric, and glass.

  Almost as much fun is cutting out the projects from wood stock. Sometimes I get lost for hours out in the 'wood shed' (workshop) sawing and sanding the projects. I'm obsessed with making sure the item is especially smooth, which requires multiple sandings during painting and varnishing. My grandpa had a saw mill in Oregon and I often wonder if that's where I developed a love for the fragrance of freshly cut wood. I also have converted one room in our house into a painting studio.

  My favorite projects are pins and ornaments. I enjoy putting a lot of detail into a smaller item. For example, I usually add one or two small pieces of wood to make the article unique and special.

Carol Ann is a superior crafter! She is even more so in customer care I have ordered from Country Gallery and am thrilled beyond words when I opened my box and looked at the quality and beautiful colors of ALL my items.
