Update: August 2, 2009 Mark Ledenbach has just come out with a DVD supplement to his Vintage Halloween Collectibles 2nd Edition Book. You can order it directly from his web site (see link below). The DVD is 65 minutes long and shows a large number of items not included in the book. These new items are in the catagories of Games, Diecuts, Table Decorations, German Candy Containers and Beistle Enveloped items. The DVD also includes reference to Mark's scarcity index. You can get both the book and the DVD together for the bargain price of $21.99 including FREE Media Shipping. If you collect Vintage Halloween the book and DVD are a must have!
Also Jason Walcott now has a Zazzle Shop where he is selling a Really Neat assortment of items, t-shits, mugs etc., with Vintage Halloween Imagery. These would be Wonderful for anyone who Loves Halloween. The Link is: http://www.zazzle.com/jaw_arts/gifts?cg=196534970838722446.
I have been collecting Vintage Halloween Items for over 20 years. I started collecting Vintage Halloween Postcards in the early 1980s and over the years I expanded my collection to include Vintage Christmas, Valentines, Easter and miscellaneous Art Deco Ephemera. I am not an expert in any of these areas but I do try to educate myself and improve my ability to judge quality items. To that end I have some Educational Resources I would like to recommend to other collectors. For Vintage Halloween Collectors I Highly Recommend Mark B. Ledenbach's Great Book, Vintage Halloween Colectibles, 2nd Edition. Available through his web site, http://www.halloweencollector.com/. It is the most comprehensive resource I have found for Vintage Halloween Items. The Pictures and the Information are Excellent. The Values are Highly Accurate in the Current Market. Also available from Amazon. Mark also has a Blog on his site where he discusses the Vintage Halloween Quality and Junk items being offered on Ebay. Reading his Blog on a regular basis and/or acquiring his book are very good ways to educate yourself on the Halloween Collectibles Market.
I also Highly Recommend Carpentier's Halloween Postcard Catalog. Available on CD or in book form on their site http://www.halloweenpostcard.com/. It is the most comprehensive guide currently available for Vintage Halloween Postcards. With Pictures and Values it is an Excellent Resource for the Serious Collector.
And For a Very Comprensive Look at Vintage Halloween I Highly Recommend Jason Walcott's Very Well Designed and Interesting Site, Vintage Halloween Pages. The Link is: http://www.jawarts.com/HalloweenSite/HalloweenIndex.html.
For Christmas Collectors I Recommend Robert Brenner's books, Christmas Through The Decades, A Guide to Christmas Antiques or Christmas Past. These are comprehensive guides to the History of Christmas in America and include historical resources and values. Available from Amazon.
For Valentine Collectors I Recommend Katherine Kreider's books One Hundred Years of Valentines or Valentine's With Values. They have good pictures and their values are pretty accurate in the current market. Available from Amazon.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you.
